Senior Account Executive - Public & Corporate Affairs, Job ID: 2017-8982, Account Executive, Washington, DC

We are seeking a dynamic communications counselor to serve as an account manager while maintaining a supportive work culture for the talented Public & Corporate Affairs team.

The position requires someone who can think and implement creatively in a fast paced environment. Must have strong understanding of the current media environment as well as the intersection of government, business, health policy and consumer relationships.
Responsibilities:

- Serve as client contact, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of clients’ business; develop strategy for implementing successful client programs, in industries such as health, tech, food and ag, and corporate.
- Provide strategic guidance to clients on an ongoing basis; anticipate and address client needs.
- Troubleshoot clients’ problems as they arise; seek senior management input whenever appropriate.
- Help account team(s) work effectively and in the best interests of client(s); maximize agency’s network of resources to enhance client services.
- Demonstrate proficiency in writing and editing materials including client media materials, byline articles, client correspondence and reports.
- Exhibit strong communication and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues and others.
- Take a leadership role in new business proposal development and presentations; work with account teams to build incremental business.
- Manage account financials including budget allocation and control, time sheets, client billing, supplier invoicing and purchase orders; ensure team billability and account profitability.

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
- Three to five years of communications experience related to public policy and/or public affairs, including project management.
- Recent government/political experience (e.g., Capitol Hill, Cabinet-level agency, trade association)
- Depth and understanding of the current health policy environment
- Broad-based exposure to all skill areas, including media relations, writing and presentations, and consultative selling.
- Direct experience in building and managing teams and budgets.
